The Cumberland County Courthouse in Crossville, Tennessee, is more than just a building, it’s the 121-year-old heart of the community. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the courthouse faced an uncertain future when serious structural failures were discovered in its roof trusses, masonry, and clock tower.

Buckeye Construction & Restoration (BCR) was entrusted with saving this landmark. Over 13,000 manhours went into stabilizing the structure and completing a full building envelope restoration. The work included repairing heavy timber trusses, rebuilding deteriorated masonry, restoring the historic clocktower, cleaning/repairing/repointing the limestone and brick façades, replacing the roofing systems, and installing more than 30 historically accurate replica windows.

All of this was accomplished while working on a tight downtown site and next to active county government offices. Despite unforeseen challenges, the project was delivered safely, on schedule, and under budget—with zero incidents.

Thanks to this effort, the courthouse is now structurally sound, weather-tight, and ready for its next chapter – preserving an irreplaceable symbol of Cumberland County’s history for future generations.
