St. Clair Lofts
St. Clair Lofts
Location: Dayton, Ohio
BCR has completed the restoration work on the historic St. Clair Lofts Building in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Prior to its conversion into luxury apartments, the building was originally occupied by the Dayton Engineering Laboratory Company (DELCO). In 1910, Charles Kettering initiated the production of the self-starter for automobiles at this location, eliminating the need for a hand crank to start the motor. Currently, BCR is restoring the entire façade as part of a window replacement project for the building. This endeavor involves extensive concrete repairs to restore the building to its former glory. In some areas, structural beams, jambs, and sills have had to be completely rebuilt. It is always exciting to be a part of preserving such a unique piece of History.
